A word about fat...
Fat is good for you. Your body needs it. fat is responsible for carrying vitamins around your body, keeping skin healthy and promoting healthy eyesight and brain development in babies.
So why the bad publicity?
There are good fats and bad fats. Most of the food produced that has fat on the ingredients list, uses bad fat.
Bad fat is any processed fat. If it isn't cold-pressed it's bad. It's bad because of what the oil manufacturer has to put it through to make it behave. Most cold-pressed oils don't last long and burn when heated. No good for the mass production of crisps and snacks.
The best fats to use for cooking are butter and coconut oil. Olive oil becomes toxic when heated, so keep that for salads and dressings.
Fat is also responsible for flavour and satiation - have you ever wondered why low fat diets never seem to really satisfy you? Food tastes better with the right amount of fat, satisfying your taste buds and your body.
But like everything else too much of it can harm you. Too much of any kind of fat puts a strain on your spleen.
